What sinus headache medication can I take during pregnancy?

I have a really bad sinus headache. Tylenol isn't working. I was wondering if any pregnant women out there took Sudafed and have been fine. I also would like to know if any pregnant women out there took TheraFlu and been OK too…
Thank you

I have really bad seasonal allergies which give me sinus headaches if I don't take medicine. I normally take allegra which is a drug that they are unsure if it will affect the baby or not so I don't take it. The doctor told me to take claratin. She said this would not harm the baby. I've been told don't take sudafed in the first trimester, but it's fine in the second and third trimester. Try the link below, it tells which meds are safe while you're pregnant. Good luck and Congratulations!

I have a sinus headache, is there anything I can do to ease the pain while waiting for medicine to kick in?

I've been getting really bad headaches at night, and I just went to the doctor today. They said it was a sinus headache and gave me some medicine. Any ideas to ease the pain while waiting for the medicine? Thanks!

Well, hopefully the medicine is kicking in but you might try a warm, wet cloth over your eyes or a hot shower.

Medicine Remedies:HEPA Air Purifiers

Till date the most advanced air filtration system that has been devised for commercial purpose is the High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter system popularly known just as HEPA. The HEPA filtration system is claimed to capture 99.97% of anything above 0.3 microns in size that remains suspended in air. Now to get an idea of how small micron is we can compare it to the width of human hair. A human hair is about 100 microns thick. So you can well imagine how effective HEPA filtration is.

Though we don't realize too often, the air we breathe in is generally full of contaminants. Air inside our homes or offices contain impurities like chemicals, allergens, pollutants, gas, smoke, dust mites, etc. invisible to the eye in most cases, we hardly have a clue as to how much harm we are causing to our health. In fact our respiratory tract, which includes the nose, sinus and lungs are at constant war wit such contaminants. The ailments polluted air in our homes can be responsible of include anything from asthma to allergies to headache. HEPA purifiers can be a solution to all those struggling millions who suffer from one form of respiratory ailment or the other.

HEPA air purifiers can add that extra zing to your life. First of all you stay healthier, and have more energy to expend. Consequently you can work more efficiently and be more creative at your work. When you come home at the end of the day, you will also be enjoying a sound sleep. In a way a HEPA air purifier can actually change the way you live your life.

One drawback for HEPA purifiers is that they generally produce quite a lot of sound when they are working. This can be irritating for some. In fact there are those who prefer ionic air purifiers to HEPA ones since they emit no sound. Ionic air purifiers can afford to do so since they work in a different way. HEPA purifiers on the other hand will produce sound.

But generally those who understand the science behind HEPA will definitely consider it to be much superior to ionic air purifiers. The fact that HEPA purifiers is ore effective is further strengthened by the information that even hospitals and manufacturers' clean rooms also use them. For such places clean air is critical and they wouldn't be compromising on that.

There is little doubt that HEPA air purifiers are till date the most advanced of all air purifiers.

Understanding Meningitis

When you hear the word meningitis on the evening news, you will more than likely wonder what in the world it is, if it is contagious, and what you can do to protect your children against it.

First, there are different types of meningitis and different causes for the different types. In most cases, meningitis occurs as a complication brought on from an infection in the bloodstream, which is usually caused by a virus. Meningitis causes inflammation or irritation of a portion of the brain.

Meningitis is a rare disease, our brains have what is called a blood-brain barrier that protects are brain for contamination by the blood. However, some infections can trick the barrier, which then decreases its ability to work properly. Once the barrier is not working to keep out the contaminated blood, it can infect the fluid around the brain. This causes white blood cells to react to fight off the infection. Once this occurs it can cause increased inflammation, which will lead to swelling, thus will not only proper blood flow to the brain. The vital areas of the brain will not be able to function normally.

Symptoms of meningitis include a severe headache that will not go away, stiffness in the neck, stiffness in the upper back, pain in one or both eyes, or an aversion to light, nausea, or the feeling of an upset stomach, vomiting, achy body, fever, sleepy feeling, or the feeling that you just cannot wake up completely, confusion, or a feeling of just not being with it.

Meningitis can be caused from a direct spread of a severe infection such as an ear infection or sinus infection. In some cases, meningitis is noted after head trauma or an injury to the head or brain.

Bacterial meningitis is caused from different types of bacteria and viral meningitis can be from a complication of chickenpox. Today, most children are now vaccinated against chickenpox therefore this can rule out this type of meningitis in most cases.

Children over the age of two, can also receive a vaccination called HIB that helps to fight against meningitis.

Bacterial meningitis is very contagious. This means that it can pass from one infected person to another by way of sneezing, coughing, sharing eating utensils or cups, or when you kiss someone.

The best prevention against meningitis is to, of course, be vaccinated if at all possible. Other ways to help is by in ways of prevention such as washing your hands often.

Dealing With A Cat Allergy

You are suspecting that you just might be allergic to your cat but there is no way that Fluffy is going to be moving out of your house. What to do? Dealing with a cat allergy can be accomplished with a little diligence.

Finding out you are allergic to your cat can be heart breaking. There are a variety of symptoms that can occur such as sneezing, itchy watery eyes, runny nose, sinus infection, headache, and a host of other mild to moderate symptoms that if you are determined enough you can likely find some relief from and still keep Fluffy. But there are also situations that are severe and even life threatening which means you will have to find your cat a new home. Lets assume your cat allergy is one you can live with. So what to do?

Let's first have a look at some of the other symptoms that can be related to a cat allergy. The list is long - besides the symptoms already mentions other symptoms include eye infections, redness, swelling, itching, post nasal drip, hives, rashes, itchy skin, plugged or poping ears, hoarseness, and coughing. There may also be shortness of breath, wheezing, reoccurring bronchitis which increases during tasks such as grooming or cleaning the litter box.

They may also increase when vacuuming or dusting which stirs up the dander. And often overlooked is that the allergy is actually not with the cat but with the perfumes used in cat products such as the litter. The cat allergy is caused buy allergens commonly the sebum produced by your cat. So it's not the actual cat hair that causes the allergy but rather a protein that is in the dander and the tiny particles are easily moved around.

So how do you deal with a cat allergy? There are several things you can try. HEPA filters are a great place to start. HEPA filters situated in each room of your home as well as a vacuum with a HEPA filter will certainly help reduce the allergens.

Having your cat neutered or spayed can help your cat allergy because it reduces the sebum level that is produced. Replace carpets with flooring can make a big difference because carpet traps not only cat dander but dust mites, and a host of other allergy causing things.

Bathe your cat regularly and cover your pillows and mattress with tight casings that can help. We spend half of our life sleeping so it makes sense to also keep the cat out of the bedroom. And of course you can also have the allergy shots that are designed to desensitize you.

But wait! There are some natural remedies for dealing with a cat allergy and some are very effective. Seek out the help of a naturopath or do some research online. You can find several products that might be beneficial.

First of all it is a well known fact that allergies including your cat allergy are a result of an immune system that is misfiring, so building your immune system and doing natural things to help bring your body into balance can also be very helpful.

Don't ignore the simple fixes when you are dealing with a cat allergy. Do it right and Fluffy will spend the rest of her days with you in a life of luxury!

Is Facial Pain Causing you Misery?

There are many reasons why you could be suffering pain in your face.:
A few of the most common ones are:

Dental problems including bite disorders and tooth decay
Neuralgia
Earache
Eye problems
Neck problems
Nasal problems
Sinus problems
TMJ disorders

Let's look at the first two.

Bite me

Did you know that 1 in 8 Americans have such severe, regular headaches that it affects their normal lives. An amazing 80% of those are caused by muscle tension. Many of these are caused by having a bad 'bite' or the way your teeth meet together when you close your mouth.

So how can your bite give you a headache?

It's all to do with the muscles. Muscles start to hurt if they have been tight for any length of time. The headache may surround your head, like a band or it can be on only one or both sides of your head. The sort of pain is usually a dull ache and can be helped with aspirin.

How do I know if my headache has a dental cause?

You may feel pain behind your eyes
Your jaw muscles may feel tired when you wake up in the morning
You may grind your teeth
Your jaw may make a clicking or popping sound
Your head and scalp may feel tender or even painful when touched

Having pain in your face can be miserable. The medical name for this is Trigeminal neuralgia (TGN) and it means extreme pain from a nerve.

This is an intense, piercing, stabbing pain in the face, which comes and goes. It gets its name from the trigeminal nerve. There is a trigeminal nerve on each side of your face and each of those splits into three. Their job is to take feelings of pain (as well as the feeling of being touched) to your brain from the face, teeth and mouth.

In 97% of cases, it only affects one side of the face. It's commonly felt in the jaw and cheek but it can also affect your eye or forehead although this is less common. The initial stabbing pain can last for a few minutes, hours at a time or even days and is then often replaced by a prolonged, dull ache.

The face becomes extremely sensitive and the gentlest touch, even a draught, can trigger the pain. Trigeminal neuralgia sufferers often stop washing their face, stop shaving and even stop eating to try and avoid triggering the pain. The reason for TGN is not really understood but it is thought that blood vessels press on the nerve, causing pain. Those mainly affected are women and generally people over 50 although children have on occasion been known to suffer with it.

What can I do about it?

There are no diagnostic tests for TGN but your Doctor will know what it is when you describe it as the symptoms are quite distinctive. Over-the-counter painkillers won't help with this. An anticonvulsant drug (like the sort used to treat epilepsy) is often used. This can be very helpful as it slows down the nerve impulses and thus reduces the pain. It takes two or three days to work.
In persistent cases, an operation can be performed to relieve the pressure on the trigeminal nerve.

Sinus Headache Treatment

Sinus is cavity in our skull which functions as to cool down the air. It is also where the air we breathe is filtered. The sinus is also a part in our skull which is very prone to infections. Sinus infections are very uncomfortable, and they are inflamed or infected in one or various ways. Sinusitis is caused by allergy or germ and bacteria in the air that we breathe; it may well be caused by the food we eat too. Headaches are only one of the symptoms of a sinus infection. If unsure of what caused the sinus problem as for example, let’s try to go on a liquid diet if we suspect that the infection comes from the food we eat. There are multivitamins and minerals we can include in our daily diet like an additional vitamin C and Vitamin A will not only help in the treatment but also in the prevention of future sinus infections. There are also natural herbal remedies but it is dependent on the person who is taking. Aroma therapy is also one of the best immediate cures for sinus infections. If a sinus infection symptom persists it is best to go to a physician for advice.

The Colon Cleansing Product Explosion

Many people have jumped on the colon cleansing product bandwagon because of their effectiveness in helping to prevent constipation problems from occurring. Constipation is generally defined as infrequent bowel movements or difficulty/pain when passing stool. Constipation problems are the most frequently under diagnosed medical conditions largely due to their commonality and the fact that they tend to go away within two or three days on their own. Common causes of short term bouts with constipation are: New Medication, Pregnancy, Menopause, Recent Change In Diet, Recent Travel, Withholding Bowel Movement, and Dehydration. Chronic constipation or recurring bouts of the short term variety, however, are a far more serious matter and require immediate medical attention. The colon cleansing product explosion is due to the fact that many people can avoid problems with chronic constipation by using an effective colon cleanser. This is because fecal impactions are a common source of constipation problems as they prevent the passing of stool beyond the point of blockage.

Reduce The Risk Of Sinus Headache, Keep Your Sinuses Healthy

Do you get headaches often? Have you recently received unsuccessful treatment for migraines or other headache disorders? When you get these headaches does it feel as if your head is stuffy? Do you feel pressure around your eyes, cheeks and forehead when you get these headaches? If so you could be suffering from a sinus headache. When your sinuses become inflamed and congested (blocked) they create pressure in your head. Pressure causes pain and headaches. Your sinuses are bony air-filled cavities in your head that are connected to your nose through small openings (ostia). When you get a cold, a sinus infection or have an allergy attack these openings can become infected and blocked by excess mucous. It is this excess mucous that creates the pressure in your head and ultimately the painful sinus headache you feel. Sinus headaches can vary in levels of intensity and in duration. At times you may simply feel a nagging pain in your head, while sometimes the pain is so unbearable that you find it almost impossible to sleep. If a Sinus headache goes untreated it can prove to be detrimental to your happiness and lifestyle. Fortunately, you can relieve sinus headache. To reduce the risk of sinusitis, keep your sinuses healthy. * Wash your hands often. Soap and water can help you avoid the upper respiratory infections that can lead to sinusitis. You may want to ask your doctor about a yearly flu vaccine as well. * Avoid irritants. Avoid cigarette, cigar and pipe smoke. These and other air pollutants can cause your sinus membranes to swell. Not only sinuses but they can also cause premature aging. To avoid this kind of wrinkle recipe, better use anti aging skin care cream. * Use a humidifier. Adding moisture to dry indoor air can help prevent sinusitis — but don't overdo it. High indoor humidity can promote mold and dust mite growth in your home. Be sure the humidifier is clean and kept free of mold.

The Reason Why Insomnia Sufferers Are Uncomfortable With Prescription Sleep Aid

It is an unfortunate truth that millions of people suffer from unexplained sleep deprivation. It leads to a lack of concentration, health problems, and general crankiness. This is the reason sleep aid drugs were created in the first place. As with any medical decision, you should be well informed about your choices before making any kind of decision. Many people are told the only option is a sleep aid pill. Some people are uncomfortable with a prescription though and want to explore the other possibilities. No one is questioning the necessity of getting help to alleviate your insomnia, but prescription solutions aren't necessarily the right ones for everyone. Some of these products are habit forming and cause the patient some serious trouble trying to live safely without them. Others are only a problem in that the patient continues to need the drug in order to sleep at all. Those aren't good options for most people. If you are considering this type of insomnia treatment, be sure you know all about the risks and potential dangers of the drug you are going to be taking.

Sell House Rent Back Schemes May Be An Option If Your Finances Are Trapped In A Plummeting Property Market

Many homeowners are finding themselves in an impossible situation. As property prices plummet and home buyers dry up, an increasing number of households are stuck in a housing rut. And you don't need to be made redundant to be a victim of the credit crunch or vulnerable to sell house rent back schemes. The huge increase in the cost of living, from food bills, fuel bills, petrol and utility bills is impacting on average incomes. So much so, that many household incomes are being outstripped by their monthly outgoings. A sell house rent back scheme could be the only way to close the financial gap.

Of course you already gave him the best gift when you had his child. You know this man better than anyone else on the world, even if his mother would disagree. Spend some time thinking about the man you married and finding the perfect gifts for him will be simple.
